Coordinate, organize, and direct activities of maintenance crews. Assists workers in diagnosing malfunction in machinery and equipment. Maintain proper inventories of required spares to provide efficient operations. Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with a team of mechanical maintenance staff. Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures, and maintenance schedules to follow, improve, and develop preventative and routine maintenance programs.

Supervise machine repairmen and electricians in the maintenance and repair of automotive manufacturing stamping presses and support equipment.

Supervise and perform maintenance on tracked and wheeled vehicles, construction equipment; special purpose equipment maintenance activities to include: Power Generation Equipment; Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Systems; and engineer equipment; Supervise recovery operations on track vehicles and wheel vehicles.

Supervised maintenance of diesel cargo trucks, medical equipment and organization equipment. Managed maintenance personnel, safety program, logistics systems and hazardous materials storage and control programs. Managed the accountability of the organizations equipment, supply and clothing logistics.

Instruct ten to twenty personnel on the inspection, service and repair of power generation equipment, utilities equipment and air conditioning equipment. Conduct instruction and train personnel on managing the maintenance management information system to include maintenance work orders, parts logistics and man hour management.

Supervised eight to ten maintenance personnel performing service and repair of rail equipment to include diesel-electric locomotives, railcars and maintenance of way equipment. Managed rail equipment maintenance personnel by training and enforcing safety and industry standards of repair to locomotives, rail-cars and maintenance of way equipment. Additional duties include coordinating, resourcing and scheduling company training as well as managing personnel actions of assigned subordinates

Inspect locomotives for malfunctions. Repair cooling systems, fuel systems, exhausts, airbrake components, lube oil systems, electrical systems, and diesel engine components on locomotives. Inspect, test and service locomotive batteries. Inspect frame and running gear for breaks, cracks, or worn surfaces; welds, rivets, caulks, paints, and stencils as necessary. Inspect and repair couplers. Examine and repair truck and wheel assemblies, safety appliances, car under-frames and cross-bearers and interiors of cars. Prepare written reports of any airbrake defects.

This duty is a combination of seven years and six months of active duty service to include basic training, advance individual training and multiple assignments in various locations as well as overseas service and service in a hostile fire area. Responsible for troubleshooting, inspecting, servicing, maintaining and repairing diesel and gasoline engine power generation equipment from 1.5 kilowatt to 200 kilowatt systems to include electrical, cooling, fuel, lubrication and mechanical systems. Additional duties included tool room custodian responsible for managing repair and maintenance tool inventory and control.
