I am a psychodynamic psychiatrist employed at the Austen Riggs Center since 1996. My work focuses on complex, co-morbid psychiatric patients who have failed to benefit from multiple trials of pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy. In this context, I, with colleagues, have developed a patient-centered, psychodynamically-informed prescribing model, grounded in the evidence base connecting meaning and medication response. That model, Psychodynamic Psychopharmacology, is now the subject of a book, published by the American Psychiatric Association Publishing, of the same name.
