  • Philadelphia Police Department
    Police Sergeant
Philadelphia Police Department Jun 1985 - Jan 1989
    Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Us
Assigned to the 25th District in East Division as a uniform patrol supervisor. At the time the 25th District was the busiest district in the city with an increase in drug activity that was responsible for violent crime in the area. Years ago this district was home to thousands of blue collar factory workers who bought small homes on small streets and went to work every day to care for their families. Factories began to close or relocate to the south where labor was cheaper, residents began to move as they sought a better environment for their families. Small streets with back alleys boded well for the drug trade to move in. We had the best officers in the city working in this district who went out of their way to provide service to the residents, many of who were living below the poverty level and were unable to move. Thousands of outstanding arrests were made by the officers.
