Police Captain
CurrentAssigned to manage the police department vehicle fleet (vehicles purchased with city funds as well as funds from forfeture proceedings) including special design vehicles used by special units for 3 years. Worked with various Police Department Units concerning vehicle strength, vendors who provided vehicles, specialized equipment for police vehicles, City agencies concerning design, parts, service and budget issues.District Captain in 22nd District for 4 years and Captain in 24th District for 6 years. Was responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and coordinating, two of the busiest districts in the city as well as several hundred officers and supervisors to provide service to thousands of residents and workers in the area. Was responsible to make sure personnel complied with various policies, training, and discipline, Forged a positive relationship with various community groups and business associations in both districts as well as Temple University in the 22nd District. Was accountable for crime in the district and depended on various computer programs to track and map crime. This provided a tool to develop crime patterns and effectively deploy officers to hot spots. Kept various investigative units advised of crime patterns and requested additional resources when needed. Assigned to Command Inspection Bureau for 3 years from May 2008 to October 2010. Was responsible to respond to major incidents where a police commander was needed such as homicides, multiple shootings victims, barricaded persons, multi-alarm fires, police discharges, injured officers, and any other incident that was in need of a police commander. Communicated with other police commanders on incidents that occured while they were off. Assisted other police supervisors when needed. Have been assigned to Standards and Accountability for three years and conducting audits of various districts and units to ensure compliance with departmental policies.
