I worked as a team leader for a local telecommunications company which contracts cable installation work all over the UK. I worked 11years for the company, 6 of which as a team leader. During my experience as a telecommunications engineer, I have worked predominantly with fibre optic cables and some amount of work with copper (Cat 5 & Cat 6). I have worked on networks such as Vodafone, O2 and EE installing external cables into transmission stations and data centres as well as internal cables linking up all kinds of servers (Cisco, Ciena, Alcatel etc) using product from Huber and Suhner. I have also worked in bank data centres using Splice UK blown fibre and F-tube solutions.I’m well experienced with both the EXFO dual wave length ILM testers and Noyes light source and power metre testers and I am trained in OTDR testing. Duties also including Point to Point fibre surveys on live and dormant networks with all connections and routes traced and cataloged, I am also well experienced in fibre fault finding and fault repairs.I am also fully trained to patch up links working from patching schedules which also requires the installing and removal of SFPs, and assist in the remote testing of point to point links. I am also able to write up my own patching schedules.
