Head Horticulturist
CurrentAs the Head Horticulturist I am responsible for reclaiming parts of the Park that were destroyed by the Gatlinburg fires of 2016, and for overall aesthetics of the visitor areas, as pertains to plantings, development of additional outdoor spaces, and landscape maintenance. The Vista Garden botanical garden, atop the property, is being planted with native species, as well as unusual specimen varieties of evergreens, and a wide variety of colorful annuals, perennials, vines, and grasses. The natural regrowth of native vegetation, such as mountain laurel (which are making a resurgence from among the ashes), will also be managed, so that all plant types in the burned areas have the proper amount of space to regrow into a balanced, new-growth forest.
