Senior Microbiologist
Current-Instituted company’s microbiology testing program spanning over a 15-year time frame in which over 5700 microbial assays were performed.-Developed several patented antimicrobial products for medical devices via the FDA 510k process, and for multiple consumer markets via the EPA. Antimicrobial medical device products include multiple gauze and finger bandage product lines; medical foams, textiles and tapes; hydrocolloid wound dressings; medical tubing and catheters; and medical adhesives and coatings. Antimicrobial consumer products include textile and home goods; footwear and athletic gear; PU, PVC, PVA, and EVA, foams; cleaning, disinfectants, wipes and sanitizer products; outdoor products/gear; contact lenses; veterinary products; super absorbent powders and odor elimination technologies; paints and flooring; and food packaging.-Work directly with multiple clients regarding all microbiological aspects of research and development of new and existing products. Project management responsibilities include examination of regulatory pathways; initial prototype design; manufacturing/production scale-up, optimization, and technology transfer; product stability, safety and antimicrobial efficacy testing strategies; and cost analysis, marketing and labeling strategies.-Provide technical support in the areas of microbiology and engineering during the development of antimicrobial medical and consumer products. This includes literature searches, intellectual property filings, and regulatory filings; reviewing and evaluating competitor technologies; managing and reviewing necessary documentations for regulatory submissions, patent applications, and government grants; and working with independent labs, science and engineering teams, and marketing and business partners.
