In combination with Six Sigma / Lean approaches we focus on combining Business Process Optimization with Business Intelligence to perform Business Application Monitoring (BAM). During the implementation of a BAM system I create Logical Data Models combined with IDEF0 Process Models to show the relationship between process and data.BAM is essential to the DAMIC approach and can be used create initial Measurements. Analyzing the data collected from BAM allows for better design of improved processes. When digitization was appropriate, I led teams to automated the new process with BAM to measure again. BAM is used during the Control/Sustain phase to measure gains through close monitoring of the business process as they are executed. Show less

The huge ETL component to handle complex business rules, transaction/activity detection, and multi temporal data with current and closed (historical) views of data covering same periods. The system publishes nightly data refreshes using ad hoc query UI (MSR/A and RBP), web services, OLAP, and SQL Reporting Services. Highly focused on design quality and performance. Designed and advocated standards and patterns that have been proven and used in other warehouse systems in Microsoft. Mentored and grew junior developers into successful senior developers and architects. Actively engaged with SQL Server team consulting for new features and proving pre-release versions of the SQL Server technology stack. Managed disaster recovery planning and 24x7 hours system coverage. Drove adoption of TCP/IP and Windows NT. Much of my work became standards for Microsoft IT and laid the foundation for the batch processing environment.Provided consulting for hardware, MS Windows NT, and MS SQL Server performance tuning. Worked closely with MS SQL and Windows development in debugging initial versions Windows NT and SQL Server. Partnered with hardware vendors to test new platforms for performance and reliability requirements. Non-project activities have been authoring Microsoft IT DB Group’s standards document with an emphasis on creating database deployment.
