As the University Solicitor at University College Dublin (UCD) for over 18 years, I provide in-house legal advice and support to the largest and most diverse university in Ireland, with over 30,000 students and 3,800 staff. My mission is to protect and advance the interests of UCD in a complex and dynamic legal environment, while ensuring compliance with the highest standards of ethics and governance.I have extensive experience and expertise in a wide range of legal areas, including commercial contracts and corporate law transactions, procurement law, freedom of information, data protection, intellectual property, copyright and trademark law, non-disclosure and material transfer agreements, corporate governance and compliance, conveyancing, landlord and tenant, employment law, company secretarial, and probate law. I also serve as the legal counsel to UCD's Data Protection Officer, advising on all aspects of data protection law and policy, and managing data breach incidents and data subject requests. I am a qualified solicitor in Ireland, England, and Wales, and hold a Master's degree in Commercial Law, a Higher Diploma in Arbitration, a Higher Trade Mark Law Postgraduate Certificate, and several other diplomas and certificates in relevant fields of law.
