Dr. Murdock is a current resident of Lake Charles, LA. He moved recently relocated to Louisiana from New York City and Washington, DC. Although born in Houston, TX, he considers himself a New Orleans native, having spent 20 years of his adult life there, serving on the Clinical Faculty at Tulane University School Of Medicine Department of Neurology and Psychiatry prior to Hurricane Katrina, where he was primarily involved in the training of residents and medical students at Charity Hospital, VA Medical Center, and DePaul Hospital. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Murdock worked as a volunteer on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge and at Central Louisiana State Hospital in Alexandria caring for displaced residents of the New Orleans area. He later worked as the director of the Mental Health Clinic for the Displaced New Orleans Veterans at the VA Medical Center in Houston, while continuing to serve on the Tulane faculty. In January, 2006, he founded Northshore Behavioral Health and began a private psychiatric practice on the Northshore, serving many displaced residents of Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and St. Tammany Parishes. Primary areas of interest are adult and geriatric psychiatry in inpatient, outpatient, Consultation-Liason and Emergency Department settings. He later relocated to New York City and served on the Faculty of the Mount Sinai/Icahn at the Elmhurst Hospital Center Campus, where he practiced inpatient, C/L and emergency psychiatry and trained students and residents. He subsequently served on the psychiatric staff at the Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He currently practices Outpatient Psychiatry with the Memorial Medical Group in Lake Charles, LA and continues to serve on the staff at Central Louisiana State Hospital.
