In my role at Barrick Gold I was responsible for training and supervising the local workforce as well as carrying out my role as mechanical fitter. I was required to broaden the skill set and knowledge base of up to six national workers within the workshop and underground. I was required to teach the national drill fitters how to carry out repairs, diagnose, and complete routine maintenance on the fleet. As a mechanical trainer I was also required to complete my own duties in regards to fleet maintenance and repairs. I was required to complete these tasks within the budget set by management. In order to do this I ensured that I completed my tasks within a timely manner to limit machine down time. My years of experience allowed me to broaden my knowledge base which helped me to widen my diagnostic skills and train my workers to the same standard.
