Imani Tumaini Pendo is a sister non-profit working alongside Imani Collective, to offer technical training in sewing and weaving, with trainees onboarded to Imani Collective Limited as employees, earning decent wages for their labor.Selected Achievements:1) Developed a Standard Operating Procedures manual, established departments, conducted workshops for operations and collaboration, documented key training processes to increase efficiency, planned and followed up on production work for efficient raw material use, and created committees for accountability.2) Developed strict budgeting protocols, increasing funding from $210,000 to $560,000 in one year, and instituted strict reporting to ensure timely reports and budget approvals.3) Introduced strict reporting requirements for key staff, developed Job Descriptions for role clarity, and liaised with third-party stakeholders to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Black and Gold Consulting supports businesses with Accounting Services aligned with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), tax compliance via Tax Advisory, and Business Development Services.1) Established accounting systems for 30+ clients across various industries, contributing to growth and scale.2) Provided tax advisory services and ensured tax compliance among clients.3) Prepared cash flow projections, developed business plans, and streamlined operations for business growth.

Kenice Investment operates in the entertainment industry, distributing premium pool tables across East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania).1) Enhanced stock and cash management processes to improve reporting and cash control.2) Developed tailored financial policies and procedures, enhancing finance report credibility.3) Implemented reporting structures across regions (Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya).

A youth resource center by popular Kenyan artist, Juliani, equipping emerging artists with entrepreneurship skills.1) Managed 15 staff, implementing stringent financial policies for optimal resource use. Established a Project Accounting system, training project managers for enhanced transparency and efficiency in ongoing projects.2) Supported the Director to develop project concepts and budgets for additional funds for the resource center.

A Kenyan multidisciplinary art space that serves as a functional playground for artists, thinkers, and curious minds.1) Worked closely with Project Directors to implement financial policy and procedure systems for efficient proper book keeping in the organization, and implemented and imprest system to manage petty cash2) Worked closely with donor organizations to set up an accounting system aligned to donor reporting of on-going projects.3) Crew Member for “Stories of Our Lives” film which documented stories and plight of queer people in the region for sensitization around human rights of queer people.

Mtaani Initiative is a not for profit organization that sensitizes the public about the effects of Kenya’s 2008 post-election violence by showcasing the photography of award winning journalist and activist Boniface Mwangi. Pawa254 Ltd is a hub for young conscious artists and activists, who strive for a better country.1) Introduced strict project accounting processes that led to increased confidence with our financial partners leading to an increase of the partners from 2 in 2010 to 7 in 2012 and total funding of KES 50 million.2)Together with the Project Directors I introduced budgeting and budgetary control measures that increased the efficiency of our projects tasks and maximized the value and impact of the project finances.

1) I managed to update all quick books entries from January 2010 to October 2011 within 7 months.2) With the guidance of the finance director I managed to improve the turnaround time for hotel payments from 24hrs to 12hrs in just 3 months.3) I improved the scrutiny of petty cash reconciliation which led to savings by ensuring a reduction in mis-use.
