District-11-> Summer of 2018 Internship: (May to August 2018) • Performed manual distress surveys for state pavement roads, shoulders, guide rails, and drainage system conditions in Allegheney, Beaver, and Lawerence counties. • Archived documents and results via Roadway Management System (RMS) for future quality assessments. • Developed a deeper understanding of roadway mapping and PennDOT standards.-> Summer of 2019 Internship: (May to August 2019) • Conducted various inspections based on design specifications for bituminous asphalt, structural steel forms, and depth checks for dry and wet concrete for bridge deck placements. • Observed application and placements of cofferdams, beams, footers, abutments, decks, approach slabs, and reinforcements. • Observed as well as performed concrete testing. • Gained an understanding of design requirements for bridge design and the specifications that are required to be followed. • Performed visual and physical material testing on RC, soil substructure conditions, field measurements of materials, and conduct wage reports. • Used PennDOT’s MCDocs application to retrieve designs and plans out in the field. • Submitted payments and measurements daily based on project site activities using PennDOT’s Project Site Activities (PSA) application. • Recorded daily traffic controls ensuring that all traffic signals/signs were functional and set up correctly using PennDOT’s Traffic Control Application.
