Attended workshops with government ministers, attorneys and bankers to discuss the unique investment atmosphere and legal system of the UAE, with an emphasis on understanding how the Dubai International Financial Centre has facilitated Dubai’s rapid development. Went jetskiing in the Persian Gulf.

Thailand's foreign investment laws require companies to meet certain minimum thresholds in exchange for preferential tax treatment. For example, for a foreign company to gain a 5 year exemption from export taxes, they must have $1 million baht deposited in a Thai bank, they must build their new developments in impoverished and underdeveloped regions, and they must hire a certain number of local workers, among other things. As a summer associate, I attended a variety of American Chamber of Commerce meetings focused on emerging issues in Thailand's foreign investment laws. As one of the few native English speakers at my firm, I was responsible for drafting email correspondences with the general counsels of Volvo and Procter & Gamble, as well as several other major western companies. Additionally, I had the opportunity to both write and review major investment contracts on behalf of those clients.

Tradar was a financial services start up with offices in New York, London and Hong Kong that was recently purchased by Eze Castle. It provides portfolio management software to a a variety of alternative investment vehicles, with a particular emphasis on hedge funds. Client investment companies have a wide spectrum of investment strategies including basic long short equity funds, global credit funds, event driven investing and international arbitrage. As an Analyst, I worked to implement clients onto our software and stream line their front, middle and back office data systems and operations. This involved everything from calculating NAV for various periods, analyzing and reconciling P&L and trade reports, and individual trade reporting.
