I deliver short-term, goal-oriented, counseling from a strength-based approach and from a solution-focused framework. Experience in debriefing, crisis management and counseling in person & through the internet & phone. I am under contract with several Employee Assistance Programs as well as with area CIUSSS's to deliver services based upon over 39 years in the public network (Youth Centers and Social Services). I also see clients on a simple fee for service basis. As a member of my professional order, many insurance companies are now recognizing social workers as being best equipped to help people with the many different issues that make up the complex life that we all lead; therefore they are covering their fees. I also inspected Social Workers for the Order for approx. 15 years. International Adoption Services were available under 2 Youth Centers, however, while I still consult, I have stopped doing the evaluations. I also offer pre and post counseling for those who are thinking about or have already adopted and would like to go over some of the issues they may face or are facing. Finally, towards the end of my career with Batshaw Youth and Family Centres, I became proficient at guided crisis intervention (when I could not be directly on site), direct crisis intervention, post-crisis debriefing with both the client and the care-giver group, and further group work with educators helping them to define and debrief what they had experienced and depersonalize the crisis to a set of dynamics that would be put them into play as the youth acted out his or her anger, or depression, among other crisis-sensitive emotional and clinical dynamics. Much of my current work is in Private Practice where I see clients through various EFAP's in the province - I have transitioned to virtual work on an encrypted network where confidentiality is key. Having intervened in Crises at Batshaw Youth and Family Centers, (currently a Ciusss in Montreal), I have also made myself available to debrief staff or employees or those affected by a severe crisis, exp: death of a team member, severe accidents dangerous events, (Bank Holdups...) closing of a company, etc. Having worked in Youth Protection and under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, I have an enormous amount of experience dealing with adolescents, children and their families.
