David has held extensive and progressive leadership roles in Commercial and Retail Banking, Risk Management, Compliance, Human Resources, Transformation and Legal across the Bank’s global business lines. David has championed change and innovation throughout his career, and has extensive experience leading large teams across the Bank’s footprint including President & CEO of Scotiabank Jamaica, SVP for the Atlantic Region in Canada, and Country Head for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. A proven strategic leader, David’s 25+ years of experience in financial and legal services provides a strong understanding of the complexities of the industry skilled at leading teams and supporting clients with their evolving needs. This experience, complemented by his deep knowledge of the Bank’s businesses and clients, continues to drive the Bank forward as it evolves to the changing landscape. David is a CFA Charterholder and Lawyer who obtained his Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from the University of the West Indies, and received the Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School. Earlier in his career, David was Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel of a publicly listed financial group in Jamaica regulated by banking, insurance and securities regulators. David has also served on the Board of Directors and several companies (public and private) and charities across Canada and the Caribbean, and was President of the Jamaica and Barbados Bankers’ Associations. David currently lives in Toronto with his family.
