Full Stack Developer
As a full stack developer for SchedulesPlus, I am primarily focused on the infrastructure architecture, operations and complex integrations for a SaaS platform used by over 150 organizations and supporting over 350,000 members. Recent projects include:• Integrating a on premise Facial Recognition and Temperature scanner with the browser based check-in station. This involved building a communication stack to communicate with the remote device, integration with the SchedulesPlus application and messaging to allow the web browser based checkin station to listen to events from the scanner without local connectivity between the devices. Key technologies include NGINX, Apache HTTP, RabbitMQ, STOMP over web sockets, PHP and JavaScript.• Developed a solution monitoring dashboard using Grafana, Prometheus, RSYSLOG and MariaDB/MySQL.
Senior Software Engineering Manager
As a manager of patch automation in IBM's Managed Application Services organization I designed a solution that tracks that patch status of 60,000 physical and virtual machines with an analytics pipeline that deciphers inconsistent and overlapping data from over 20 downstream systems. I also manage a small team of software engineers and operations specialists that have implemented and now continue to evolve the solution. We use agile methodologies (SCRUM) and open source technology including Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, Javascript, React and a Grafana dashboard. My development contribution is focused on the SQL based analytics that converts the incoming data into usable metrics. The unique analytics pipeline allowed us to adjust to our stakeholder's evolving needs very rapidly.
Software Development Team Lead
As a squad lead for security engineering in IBM Cloud Managed Service I was focused on the transformation from traditional security operations services to security automation using technologies such as Chef. My technical focus was on how automation technology would be applied to over 30,000 servers that were already running while my leadership focus was on helping the team move from traditional operations roles to focus on DevOps and security automation in an mixed organization that was using both Chef and Salt Stack.
Senior Software Engineer
As a software developer for Identity and Access Management (IAM) in IBM's Cloud Managed Services I started off building Java based tooling to reconcile existing users and roles across approximately 30,000 cloud hosted virtual machines. After the initial deployment of this tooling I convinced the team to shift to a javascript based solution, using node.js, Cloudant (CouchDB) and react and BlueMix hosting. This new approach allowed us to write and deploy faster which meant faster iterations and quicker adjustments to meet stakeholder needs.
Enterprise It Architect
Application Portfolio Lead - Oversaw a portfolio of 300 applications used to run IBM's technical support business around the world.Domain Architect - Integration of 200 unique applications from around the world into one end-to-end solution used for managing the delivery of technical support to customers.Development Lead - Technical lead for the development of two new solutions that were needed to improve IBM's technical support delivery capabilities:1) A single global entitlement repository that would merge data from multiple sources and apply a consistent set of rules to determine if and when a client was entitled to receive technical support services. This solution had to be built and delivered in 90 days. We used Feature Drive Development (FDD) as our agile methodology, CouchDB as our data store and functional styled PHP as our programming language. These technologies were an excellent fit for this use case and allowed the team to deliver a very powerful solution in a very short amount of time.2) A new service request routing solution that would help to get problems for a very broad collection of products routed to the appropriate resources for resolution. Our existing decision tree based solution was becoming cumbersome to manage to we shifted to a forward chaining inference engine that would accept input in the order the customer provided it and find the best questions to ask in order to drill down to the best destination for a service request.
