Chief David A. Ogden has been a successful law enforcement executive with 35 years in law enforcement and a BA degree in criminal justice, and in pursuit of a Masters in Organizational Leadership. He is the current Chief of Police in the Town of Windermere since 2013 where he has led a successful transformation within the agency.

Presented, reviewed and/or provided expert comment for high liability police topics of discussion to include, but not limited to, CALEA Conference, Police Executive Research Forum, FBI National LEEDS program, National Institute of Justice, National Sheriff’s Association, 2005 Tallahassee Legislative Session, University of Central Florida, Florida Gulf States University, On Point National Talk Show, Florida’s High Liability Trainer’s Conference, Orange Counties Citizen Review Board, In Line of Duty, and much more.

Dave has been a personal martial artist for 35 years, holding Black Belt Degrees in Karate, as well as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, under Professor Marcio Simas, with Gracie Barra Orlando. Dave is the owner and head instructor at Gracie Barra Clermont. He was the Director of Law Enforcement Operations for the Florida Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Sports Coordinator for the Florida State Police and Fire Games Submission Grappling Events. He has competed in local, state, and International tournaments in the United States and Brazil. Dave believes in “tactical self defense” and has integrated his unique background of mental preparation for critical encounters, law enforcement defensive tactics, ground fighting, and martial arts skills into a complete self defense system. This new Gracie Barra Franchise School opened June of 2016.

• Director, Central Florida Intelligence Exchange. Managed our nine county Regional Fusion center. Responsible for improving information sharing practices to enhance the protection of our homeland security. Collaborate daily with federal, state, and local law enforcement, and enhance coordination efforts with Fire Department, Emergency Services, Emergency Management and our Private Sector partners to strengthen the national security initiatives. Manage Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Grant, Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Grant, as well as OCSO budgets. • Captain, Intelligence Unit, OCSO. Manage the OCSO Intelligence Section with personnel assigned to the JTTF (Joint Terrorism Task Force - FBI) who work domestic and international terrorism. Handle Presidential Dignitary protection and other VIP details. • High Risk Incident Commander, OCSO. Recently, given responsibility as one of only four High Risk Incident Commanders which responds to critical incidents, (hostage incidents, barricaded gunman, etc.) and assumes command and control of the entire operation.

• Captain, Uniform Patrol Division, Sector 3, OCSO. Commanded the West side patrol section of Orange County. Incorporated the Intelligence Led Policing/Community Policing model which had an unprecedented crime reduction in the Pine Hills Community as compared to the rest of Orange County. Integrated my philosophy and command with community leaders.

Created the Evening Traffic Unit to combat nighttime traffic and DUI related issues. Managed the agencies Field Training Program for all new employees, and managed three units with over 200 volunteers.
