David Oh is a consultant, attorney and entrepreneur. David served 3-terms as a Councilman At-Large for the City of Philadelphia and was Chairman of Council's Committee on Global Opportunities and Creative/Innovative Economy. He was the first Asian American elected to political office in Phila. and was the only veteran serving on Council during his 11 years of service. In 2023, David was the Republican candidate for Mayor of Philadelphia. After his unsuccessful run for Mayor, he was President/CEO of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia for a 6 month period, during which time he increased its membership by over 50%, doubled its revenues, expanded the programs of the Chamber to better serve its members. David co-founded the Asian American Business Alliance of Greater Philadelphia.David is an attorney and practiced law for 26 years until he was sworn into public office. While in law school, he started a volunteer, free legal clinic for which he received a Human Rights Award from the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations. After graduating from law school, David served as a Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney. He resigned to join the US Army and ultimately served as a 2LT (not SF qualified), in the 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) ANG. He was the principal of his own firm for 18 years before he merged into a larger firm. After being elected to City Council, David stopped practicing law to devote all his efforts to serving the people of Philadelphia.David serves is a member of S&T Bank’s advisory committee. In the past, David served on the boards of The Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians, Nazareth Hospital, Monte Jade Science and Technology Assn.: Mid-Atlantic Chapter, Friends of the Korean War Memorial at Penn's Landing, Community College of Philadelphia, Mayor's Commission on Literacy, Nazareth Academy High School for Girls, Philadelphia Police Advisory Commission, Educational Nominating Panel, Federal Judicial Nominating Commission for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, First Commercial Bank of Philadelphia, Walnut Street Theater, WYBE Public Television, Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition, Philadelphia Health and Education Corporation (Hahnemann University), Tribune Charities, Christian Street YMCA, Crime Prevention Assn. David is Past Chairman of the Hajdak-Mokan (Philadelphia) Chapter, 82nd Airborne Assn., a life associate member of the Special Forces Association and a member of the American Legion Rhawnhurst-Castor Post 754.David is married to Heesun and they have four children.
