In this role, I oversaw all twenty-four UK venues including a cluster of six in central London with an overall turnover of £59.4m and led capital spending and a rolling refurbishment program across all sites, whilst successfully navigating local challenges, licensing requirements, and social responsibilities. During this time the Alchemist consistently outperformed NPS compared to comparable market segments according to the peach coffer tracker. My role afforded me an opportunity to work on various cross company projects with the marketing, people and property teams; and then by developing further a relationship with the finance function, driving ever more robust P&L control against the difficult economic backdrop that we have all endured over the last few years.

As a Director, I managed a large estate comprising 15 venues across key cities in the North of England, Scotland and Wales, including Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Cardiff. My role provided extensive knowledge of the day and night time economies in these areas, contributing to significant annual revenue across my region.

In this role I gained valuable experience in multi-site management and leadership of an extended cohort of General Managers and Operations specialists across a region of eight venues including London, during this time the brand experienced the first flush of private equity funded growth across the country, as the estate doubled in size I gained great experience and knowledge through delivering 10 new venues and worked hard to protect the integrity of the operation and offer, overseeing a number of developing site teams and continuing to deliver a strong set of KPIs.

BACIL is an organisation that works in partnership with Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Police and other bodies in the the city to actively reduce crime across both the day and night time economy.During my time as a board member BACIL worked with our partners to deliver Purple Flag status to the city of Leeds for the first time which is an accreditation granted for achieving excellence in the management of its night-time economy.
