Engineer
Current• Assists in conducting electrical engineering design for new or additions to existing substations and coordinates studies performed by contractors on new or existing facilities, plant life and reliability, regulatory compliance, generation, solar plant, transmission, and distribution planning support.• Assists in preparing specifications for engineering design, construction services, systems, and equipment. Reviews proposals and makes recommendations.• Assists in preparing annual section capital and operation and maintenance budgets.• Assists with coordination between contractors, suppliers, and district resources during multiple project phases. Review work, design, and fabrication of both internal and external resources to ensure compliance with specifications and standards. • Assesses the current condition of systems and equipment and recommends improvements, repairs, or replacements to maximize their life cycle and reliability.• Maintains knowledge of district, federal, state, and local safety codes and regulations to ensure district staff comply with the codes and regulations.• Participates in the preparation of project budgets, estimates project costs, and provides cost justifications; monitors and ensures cost control of projects within budget and time constraints.• Gathers data required for planning a wide variety of engineering projects; evaluates programs and systems for performance and recommends appropriate solutions; provides technical expertise to others on major projects and programs.• Complies and analyzes statistical data and prepares technical reports.• Directs, prepares, reviews, and approves contract documents and specifications, makes modifications and recommends alternatives; oversees contractors; reviews and inspects work in progress to ensure compliance with standards and specifications; performs performance tests and evaluates results; prepares and submits reports.
