About David Weiner

From an early age I was always curious about how things worked and was inspired by Nature. This led me to study the natural sciences and to my career in Biotechnology. What I love most about my work is that every day I get to explore cutting-edge science, work with amazing people, and develop products and solutions that make the world a better place. A dynamic leader, I am known for my positivity and ability to create cohesive high-performing teams. My colleagues describe me as having a unique blend of creativity and pragmatism, where I draw on my experience to address complex problems and reduce them down to manageable steps. In this way, I have led the successful development of over 20 novel products from concept to commercialization. With a deep scientific background spanning chemistry, biology, and engineering, I have made significant contributions to several fields including Industrial Biotech, Ag-Biotech, Food and Nutrition, Biofuels, and Pharma. Along the way, I have developed a keen business sense, working in a variety of settings from a 25-person start-up to a 115,000-person multinational. Noted for my engaging leadership style, I bring passion to everything I do, whether discussing business plans with the Board of Directors or mentoring junior colleagues in the lab. I earned my B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemical Biology from Leicester University in the U.K. A frequent speaker at international conferences, I have authored 24 peer-reviewed scientific publications and am an inventor on 44 issued U.S. patents. In addition to science I love photography, sports, and outdoor adventures. In my free time you can find me exploring Nature together with my wife, 2 daughters, and our intrepid Yorkshire Terrier.
