Mr. Paynter is the principal staff assistant to the center commander on Sensor System Maintenance, Logistics, and Civil Engineering. He provides logistics staff estimates and advice to center leadership on resource prioritization; additionally, technical oversight and program management support for the Materials Technology Directorate, which encompasses four national mission areas and is comprised of scientists, engineers, technicians, and a network of analytical laboratories. Previously, Mr. Paynter served AFTAC as the 709th Support Squadron Deputy and Logistics Flight Manager. Prior to arriving at AFTAC, he served as the Support Operations Officer for the 18th Air Support Operations Group at Pope Army Airfield, N.C. Prior to entering civil service in 2013, Mr. Paynter served as an active duty Air Force Logistics Readiness Officer for 21 years. During his extensive military career, he commanded a Logistics Readiness Squadron in Arizona and an Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron in southern Iraq. Additionally, he served as the Defense Logistics Agency liaison officer to U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Air Combat Command Readiness Branch Chief, ACC Inspector General’s Logistics Readiness senior inspector, Air Force Foreign Military Sales lead for Office of Defense Cooperation in Poland, Central Air Force’s forward senior logistics planner, and Installation Deployment Officer for Eglin AFB, Fla. An interesting note, in addition to his 30 years’ experience with Air Force Logistics, Mr. Paynter served the State of North Carolina as both a probation officer and parole officer for three years.
