Second, in collaboration with a Texas biotech company, I designed DNA probes for use in an automated PCR assay for the rapid detection of bacteria. Finally, using microarray analysis, I investigated gene expression profiles of Vibrio cholerae when grown under conditions known to be important for pathogenesis.
