About David Pefley

My life has taken drastic turns several times over the years, and I am always curious about what lies around the next corner for me. The most important thing that has ever happened to me was having the opportunity to go to college where I met my wife, who is Japanese. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to travel to Japan on many occasions and absolutely love the difference in customs and culture that I continue to experience when I travel. I have been in the electrical trade for 10 years now, and have learned that most everything is based on relationships. This is not only true for the industry I work on, but for everything in life, in general. While what you know is important, and can allow you to succeed, it is who you know and the relationships you build, that allow you to get a chance to succeed.

Listed skills include Kansas, Business Ethics, Usa, International Business, and 37 others.

Electrical Project Manager

Current

Washington, District Of Columbia, United States

Currently, I manage multiple projects within the electrical service industry, for customers that require an incredible amount of detail. All of these projects have required NDA's to be signed by not only myself managing the project, but everyone involved with the project. On average, I manage between 8 and 25 projects, ranging from a few thousand dollars to multi-million dollar projects, each with their own set of nuances, and requirements. Many of these projects are for different customers, all requiring different information. Over the last 5+ years, I have worked extensively in the Data Centers and have learned the process of how each one works, ranging from vendor requirements, to their own specific processes, which I often help facilitate answers to. This has allowed myself, and my team to become one of the preferred Point Of Contacts for when projects arise, which often time leads to projects being awarded directly, as long as certain criteria are met. Currently, I am working on expanding into other service areas that allow for future growth for the company, as well as increased sustainability and profitability for the customer.

Aug 2021 - Present

Area Manager Electrician

Washington, District Of Columbia, United States

Managed an area of "Data Center Valley" within Northern Virginia for all electrical projects. I was responsible for managing current customer relationships, as well as finding and nurturing new relationships in the area, to continue to grow our business sector. When a potential job arose and was sent out for bid, I would walk the job, create a list of materials needed, as well as manpower, and projected length of job, report this to the Account Manager, and would meet with the customer to ensure them that should the project be awarded to me, it would be done in a timely, and professional manner to meet and exceed their expectations. My personal retention rate for jobs awarded that I was responsible for managing, was over 75%, with aggregate 18%-22% margins.I was also responsible for sub-contractors, close out documentation as well as as-built drawings, and inspections. This allowed me to build relationships with the sub-contracts and work on better pricing for future work as well as allowing the customer to receive better warranties on their installation.

Dec 2020 - Aug 2021

Foreman Electrician

Washington, District Of Columbia, United States

Main foreman on projects assigned to me by the sub-contractors office. Many of which were NDA projects, with security screening, and background checks required. Ran all my jobs to meet or exceed timelines required, which lead to many future projects with the same customers, resulting in a combined effort of $70 million awarded throughout my time as foreman, in our small sector within the company.

Jun 2019 - Dec 2020

Apprentice Electrician

Washington, District Of Columbia, United States

Apprentice Electrician in Local 26 IBEW for Washington DC. As an apprentice, I was required to attend Trade School, while going to work full time. I studied all aspects of electrical theory and installation in the classroom, as well as had hands-on experience in the field. Where electrical theory was taught as abstract, the field was where the real life aspects where put into practice. As an apprentice, it was my job to help and learn from my mechanics on the proper way installation should be done, so as to pass code requirements. I also learned how to trouble shoot electrical issues as they arose, and document my findings and fixes for the project foreman. I started running small crews and projects as I was nearing my graduation time, and immediately fell into the roll of sub-foreman on multiple jobs, directly helping manage the projects from a "boots on the ground" standpoint.
