David Percival is a Professor of Whole Plant Physiology and the Director of the Wild Blueberry Research Program at Dalhousie University, where he has worked for over 28 years. Situated within the Faculty of Agriculture, David is also Chair of the Wild Blueberry Research Program, Manager of the Wild Blueberry Research Centre and is the lead researcher for Bragg Lumber Company. David is also presently the Convener of the International Society for Horticultural Science's 13th International Vaccinium Symposium which is being held in Halifax and Charlettetown, Canada in August 2024. He has worked at the Agricultural Campus since 1996, and his research interests presently include: (i) environmental regulation of carbon assimilation, metabolism and partitioning; (ii) impact of fungal diseases on wild blueberry growth, development and berry yield; (iii) the development of alternative vegetation management technologies for wild blueberry production; (iv) the impact of climate change on wild blueberry production and (v) berry quality, safety and traceability. His teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and technical level presently include plant physiology, viticulture (the biology of the grapevine and grape production) and pest management courses, and at the graduate level, he provides courses and modules on carbon assimilation and metabolism, plant nutrition and blueberry classification, culture and composition. David is also an active provider of information and training sessions to the wild blueberry industry. He is presently a member of the Academic Coordinating Committee at the Faculty of Agriculture. David collaborates with the wild blueberry producer associations situated within the Maritimes and the Wild Blueberry Association of North America (Canada). -
