David is an experienced CIMA-qualified leader, with a strong background in consulting and finance, who excels at organizing and driving large-scale strategic programs, creating commercial insights, and leading high-performance teams.David has spent the last 5 years as CEO of Construct Education, a dynamic, fast growing, international startup which he led to a successful trade sale in January 2023. Under his leadership revenues have grown over 750% and annual losses transformed into a c.20% net margin. In contrast, his early career was in global corporates, qualifying as an accountant in Telecoms, a finance and performance management consultant with Accenture, and 11 years in a number of leadership roles within the EMEA CFO Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML). Throughout his career he has managed complex stakeholder relationships, including board, customers, investors and regulators. From an early age David has relished the opportunity to challenge himself whether that be learning the Cello to achieve distinction in Grade 8 as an Essex Scholar at Guildhall School of Music, leaving his career in Banking to join an EdTech start-up (Construct Education), or through endurance sports where he has completed the prestigious Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc trail run and swam from Europe to Africa across the Straits of Gibraltar.KEY ACHIEVEMENTS - Led the successful fundraising and ultimately the acquisition of an EdTech startup - Grew Revenues 750% in 4 years and recognised 20th in Deloitte's UK Fast Tech 50 in 2020. - Scaled a loss-making business into profit (through COVID disruption). - Led 200+ employees to achieve 90%+ customer retention rate through outstanding customer service. - Increased staff retention by 120% by fostering a culture of high performance and personal development. - Achieved cost savings at Accenture, BAML and Construct through team restructuring & process change. - Delivered and was responsible for the P&L on Finance consulting projects in EMEA and Asia.
