My earliest work experience was as a clearing contractor. We specialized in site and highway widening clearing, grubbing and burning/chipping. After a few years of that I was graduated to an equipment mechanic which thankfully only lasted about a year. I was then endoctrinated into Landfill work as an assistant project superintendant. I spent about 10 years all over the southeast building new landfills, expanding existing ones and closing the ones that had reached the end of their useful life. I spent a brief period in Colorado as a foreman performing a gold mine reclamation. We moved 4.5mil cy in 4 months at 10,000ft above sea level. What a great experience! I spent a little more than a year as a manager of a farmers co-op in Western NC. Another great but varied experience. For the past 10 years I have worked as a foreman, project manager and estimator for all types of grading and utility projects.
