Worked as BNP Paribas, Australia's one and only Senior Guarantees Officer doing all things related to maintaining the Bank Guarantee/Standby Letter of Credit portfolio. My major achievement was successfully expanding BNP Paribas, Sydney's portfolio of Guarantees/SBLCs by an unprecedented amount, that is, by more than double the total ever in the history of BNP Paribas’ branch. More importantly, all this was achieved without error, through thorough research, working together closely with the Business & Legal team and double checking my own, and my team’s work for accuracy. It was a pleasure to work there to expand my knowledge of guarantees. Many things were the same but there were also quite a few learning experiences as each country’s market has their own way of approaching Bank Guarantees and SBLCs.

I started my work career at Westpac's Mt Druitt branch as a trainee Ledger Examiner. The Ledger Examiner position doesn't exist in Westpac anymore but it was often regarded as "The Engine Room" of the branch. It was there that I was exposed to the various internal reporting, tracing skills for lost funds, redirecting of lost funds to the correct account, proofing signatures on cheques, archiving, monitoring suspicious account activity, reporting fraud, statement reconciliations and maintenance, customer database maintenance among other activities. I also manned the Enquiries Counter and answered customer queries.
