From an early age, I have committed myself to develop my professional career in science. I have always enjoyed studying the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world though observation and experiment, so science subject area always has been one of my favourites. Understanding how the world works –from something as big as stars and planets to such small things as cells– keep me thinking and being amazed about how little we know about it, so there is still a great deal to be done in the way of studying and discovering. Therefore, I began to study cell biology at the University in Spain, and, just a few months after getting my degree, I got the opportunity to continue my career with a Master and working as a research assistant in China.During my time in China, I was able to learn a bunch of skill:- Human cells culturing (stem cells and cancer cell lines) in Biosafety level 2 tissue culture room.- Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing- Molecular biology (immunostaining, western blot, q-PCR, molecular cloning)- Able to summarize complex concepts in a power point presentation.- Capable to work in a team, providing detailed reports about research progress. To leave my home and setting in the other side of the world in a place with a so different culture, have me grow and improve, learning in the hard way to adapt quickly to new environments and situations, to develop a resilient “can-do” attitude towards difficulties, to interact with people dealing patiently and tolerantly with language and mindset gaps.My goal is to continue my career in bio industry or as a science professor, being able to use all my knowledge into more direct applications that improve people’s life quality, or training the next scientist generation so they may continue improving our understanding of the world we live in.

Research AssistantGuangzhou Institutes Of Biomedicine And Health Sep 2016 - Mar 2022Guangzhou, Cantón, ChinaI was involved in a project to understand the process of totipotency in human cells. We describe a method for producing 8C-like cells (8CLCs) from human pluripotent stem cells. Single-cell analysis and loss-of-function experiments identified fundamental roles for DPPA3, a master regulator of DNA methylation in oocytes that induces DNA demethylation throughout the 8CLC conversion process, and TPRX1, a eutherian totipotent cell homeobox (ETCHbox) family transcription factor, a key executor of 8CLC gene networks that is absent in mice. Moreover we demonstrate that 8CLCs can produce embryonic and extraembryonic lineages in vitro or in vivo in the form of blastoids and complex teratomas. My main tasks were producing and culture 8CLCs, generate knock-in and knock-out cell lines using CRIPSR/Cas9 technology, immunofluorescences and molecular biology techniques.
