I hold a PhD in philosophy from the University of the Free State, South Africa. I lectured philosophy at the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) for several years before venturing into a first philosophy post-doctoral role with the Chair for Identities and Social Cohesion in Africa, which led to a second post-doctorate with the Institute for Coastal and Marine Research. Before all that, I lived and lectured in the UK for four years, after which time I returned to my beloved home country (South Africa) in 2012 to engage in a relatively rustic and low-tech lifestyle. Presently I facilitate online English sessions for non-native English speakers, do the necessary to keep the rustic tiny-homestead going, build rocket heaters/ovens/boilers/saunas and develop innovative off-grid energy solutions, and enjoy the sunrises/sunsets/birdsong/surf.
