Management of daily production mining operations to ensure the safe and efficient extraction of 11.0Mtpa from the open pit mine to feed 3.0Mtpa. Managing the Mining Department work force including HSEC and Human Resources requirements. Ensuring mining operations are undertaken efficiently and comply with all HSEC and statutory requirements.Negotiating contract terms, pricing and payment schedules and ensuring that the agreements with contractors are commercially and contractually sound. Liaison with contractors with regard to contractual and operational matters and auditing and approval of the monthly contractor progress claims.Providing detailed short, medium and long term mine plans to assist in meeting production and cost targets. Preparation of the Life of Mine Plan and Open Pit Mining Budget including physicals and operating costs. Tracking, analysis and reporting of production and cost data.Whittle optimization, pit design and production scheduling. This process involved the construction of owner miner cost model, the review of the geotechnical design parameters and the evaluation and optimization of the resource model.Analysis and management of cost saving initiatives including roster changes, workforce restructuring, contract re-negotiations and fleet changes.

Management of mining contractor and mine infrastructure civil works for an open pit mine producing approximately 3Mtpa of coking coal. Establishing and maintaining a working relationship between the company and the contractor in order to ensure conformance with safety, volume and cost targets.Negotiate contract terms, pricing and payment schedule and ensuring that the agreements with the contractor are commercially and contractually sound. Conduct new contract negotiations, facilitating the re-negotiation of existing contracts and make amendments to contractual documents. Managing and resolving business conflicts between the company and the contractor including conducting investigations into any technical changes or contractual disputes. Managing invoices from generation to payment and monitoring contract budgets and forecasts.

Management of Short Term Planning Group within the Goonyella Riverside Technical Services Department. The Short Term Planning Group was responsible for 6 draglines, 3 electric shovels, 9 excavators and 7 Overburden Drills in the 0 to 12 week timeframe. The group provided mine planning services the safe and efficient production of 14.0Mtpa of coking coal from an open pit mine.

This included the day to day management of the survey department, mining engineers and mining contractor (manning level of approx 600 personnel).Liaison with the mining contractor with regard to contractual and operational matters. Auditing and approval of the monthly contractor progress claims.Preparation of the Open Pit Mining Budget including physicals and operating costs for USD$50M per year mining operation. Tracking, analysis and reporting of production and cost data.Providing detailed short to medium term mine plans to assist in meeting production and cost targets.

Total project value approx A$165M for a reserve of 400koz.The management of the mining operations at the Red Hill Open Pit Mine. This included the management of geologists, surveyors, engineers, drillers, blast crew and equipment operators manning level of approx 50 personnel).

The preparation of a feasibility study for the mining of satellite open pits with a project value of approx A$40M for a reserve of 70koz. The process involved the optimization of resource models, pit designs, coordination of geotechnical and hydrogeological reviews, preparation of mining tender documents and assistance with preparation of environmental approval documentation.The design, implementation and auditing of all open pit blasting activities. Design of production and final wall blast plans including tie-ups. Monitoring the D&B contractors operations to ensure safe working practices are maintained.

The preparation of a successful tender submission to undertake the Heap Leach Pad Construction Project. Total project value was approx US$6.5M. The process involved the calculation of costs for the schedule of rates, the preparation of schedules and the preparation of tender documents for plastic liner installation.The preparation of monthly project progress claims that ranged in value between A$1M and A$4M. The process involved contractual works monitoring, claim preparation and the assistance in resolving contractual issues with the client.Nine months as Drill and Blast Coordinator to organize production drill and blast operations in a fresh rock, open pit mine. This included associated prespliting and ground support activities. Operation of dump trucks and blast crew experience.
