Designed and developed insulin infusion pump embedded software for a medical device startup that went through an IPO and eventual sale to Johnson & Johnson. Pump system contained TI MSP430 microcontrollers to control a brushless DC motor, piezo actuator, graphics LCD/OLED display, IrDA, RF transceiver, I2C and other bus interfaces and components. Software was written in C, C++ and assembly code using an IAR IDE and JTAG/ICE device. Drove development through product lifecycle including architecture definition, design, development, verification, product validation and manufacturing support.

Lead developer of a Digital Video Recorder targeted for the CCTV video surveillance market. Product was the first DVR on the market to simultaneously process four independent, high resolution, real-time MPEG-2 encoded video data streams that can be archived, replayed, or streamed over TCP/IP. Utilized a pSOS kernel on a MPC8240 core, Sony MPEG encoders, AMD ethernet controller and Trimedia for MPEG data playback rendering. Responsible for project planning / tracking, system architecture, design, development, verification and acceptance testing.

Developed software for an expert system that detects and categorized television commercial segments broadcasted in 75 North American markets. Wrote C code for a VxWorks Pentium PCI front-end sensor to capture the composite video frame and audio data.

Designed and developed the first Time Domain acoustic sonar beamformer utilizing commercially available components with Tornado/ VxWorks, C and PowerPC assembly. Used Matlab to model cost effective FFT and IIR algorithms.

Designed, developed and supported several manned and unmanned airborne data collection and reconnaissance systems that included both autonomous and tethered (both direct line-of-sight and satellite relay) operations. Unmanned UAV operation involved real-time remote operator flight control or waypoint/loiter operation with a store and forward capability. The airborne platform performed signal data collection and recognition with a location determination capability.
