Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead transformation through culture resulting in the development of high-functioning teams that deliver business outcome-focused results for customers and partners. As Verizon Business Group, Vice President, I’m currently leading a large enterprise sales organization with revenues of over $3.4 billion.Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) was formed on June 30, 2000, and is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services. We offer data, video, and voice services and solutions on our award-winning networks and platforms, delivering on customers’ demand for mobility, reliable network connectivity, security, and control.Between my busy schedule at Verizon, I spend time mentoring and speaking openly about my life story to youth groups. As a lost kid at a young age, I joined the Air Force in 1997 and served for 6 years. After 9/11, I served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. These years provided me with a core set of values that helped me become a leader, a friend, and now a husband and a father. I talk a lot about intangibles in a person. That’s a person’s integrity, work ethic, perseverance, resilience, and ability to work as a team. Military service grows those intangibles in you. In 2002, I was honorably discharged from the Air Force, only to receive some life-changing news: I’d been diagnosed with colon cancer. After successful treatment, the cancer went into remission, but it returned again in 2007. That’s when I moved back to Southern California to be closer to my mom’s side of the family.
