I am responsible for giving health and safety advice to small to medium sized companies to enable them to comply with current legislation and to acquire CHAS and various other health & safety accreditations.Producing company health and safety documentation including company specific policy statements, method statements, and risk and COSHH assessments.Perform site audits and carry out site tool box talks including producing written reports.Develop health & safety training coursesDeliver health and safety training including IOSH Managing Safely, CITB approved courses including SMSTS and SSSTS courses, CIEH approved training including EFAW and First Aid at work, Abrasive wheel, Asbestos Awareness and many more.Develop construction phase health and safety plans for construction work.

I was responsible for the health and safety advice to the Managing Director of a large plumbing company. The company had over seventy employees ranging from office and store personnel, to domestic and commercial plumbers and electricians working on very large commercial contracts and sites. Initiated site risk assessments and compiled site specific method statements.Planned and carried out site tool box talks, i.e.: working at height, use of portable pipe threading machine.Performed site audits and assisted with external audits by other approved bodies and colleges.Annually reviewed the firms Health & Safety policy as well as updating the firms risk assessment and method statement. Ensured that all operatives were trained and competent to carry out their work effectively and efficiently. This included providing them with induction training on their first day with the firm; liaising with external training agencies and booking additional health and safety training such as PASMA, CSCS, Abrasive wheel training and Asbestos Awareness training.Ensured that mandatory safety checks such as weekly fire alarm checks and other mandatory checks such as: LOLER, FAFA checks were carried out by external agencies. Established a new Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) data base and testing regime for all appliances and tools both in the offices and individual fitters on site to establish that they were safe to work with and to ensure the firm complied with all their legal responsibilities
