Supporting the maintenance activities in the Hot Metals area of the Kennecott Smelter. Responsibilities include equipment troubleshooting, project management, root cause failure analysis, equipment downtime analysis, and asset management.

- Responsible rotating equipment reliability throughout the refinery by leading equipment troubleshooting efforts, developing and approving repair scopes, and performing hydraulic analyses- Developed and implemented short- and long-term upgrades (including modifying the seal system, equipment design modifications, and material upgrades) for rotating equipment to improve reliability and equipment lifespan- Supported rotating equipment maintenance activities during major turnarounds to ensure proper equipment repairs and startup- Optimized maintenance activities and documentation by creating site specific repair sheets for pumps and recip. compressors- Supervised the condition monitoring program and analyzed vibration spectrums, waveforms, and trends for rotating equipment

- Assessed the performance of 5 bad actor pumps and evaluated upgrade options to improve the pumps’ reliability - Developed repair scopes for long-range maintenance plans of compressors based on previous work orders - Conducted a spare parts analysis on Sundyne, Union, and Sulzer pumps to optimize inventory- Communicated with craftsman and technical experts to develop a department form to ensure proper tension of fin fan belts- Assisted in the development of a multi-discipline tensioning procedure to mitigate risk associated with variable air density- Engaged in multiple maintenance activities such as mechanical seal failure analysis, overspeed trip tests, and pump overhauls

- Determined the in-line and transverse frequencies on 150 thermowells to optimize flow conditions and prevent failures- Validated and analyzed 191 PSVs to ensure proper sizing and set pressures prior to quarterly inspections- Developed a tool following ASME Sec. VIII to calculate the minimum thickness for pump cans to establish a baseline- Created a detailed index for datasheets regarding injection points throughout the refinery - Completed asset tracking of rupture disks and Plidco flanges to ensure proper and frequent inspections- Championed MOCs to update P&IDs based on unit walkdowns and external piping inspections
