I have successfully completed the taught part of this Masters degree, and my dissertation research into increasing the uptake of Agroforestry in the UK through innovative alternative tenure arrangements.Modules:Sustainability & Adaptation Concepts & Planning Parts 1 & 2 (double credit); Ecosystem Services: Land-use, Water & Waste Management; Cities & Communities; Environmental Politics & Economics; Energy Flows in Buildings A; Sustainable Materials in the Built Environment; Applied Project (Planning).

• Initiated improvements to the domestic recycling system and created a new compost and vermiculture public demonstration area• Communicated our conservation and sustainability vision through guided tours for school groups and visitors, seminar presentation, study group and guest programme facilitation, and as Hilfield’s link partner contact for international conservation charity A Rocha • Maintained a safe, hygienic kitchen and refectory while helping to prepare community meals for around 30 volunteers, guests and visitors on a weekly basis as well as catering for over 100 guests on open days and eventsFollowing the example of Francis of Assisi there is a particular emphasis on living simply, generously and joyfully on God’s earth. The land and the animals it supports are cared for and provide food for the community. There is a common table around which the Community and its guests share meals, and yet there is also time and space to be quiet and alone. The Foundations For Ministry theology and ministry skills training course undertaken as part of this role led me to explore study opportunities in the realm of environmental and social justice.• Initiated a series of cultural orientation and debriefing workshops for Languages Undergraduates participating in the Languages Year Abroad and Erasmus exchange programmes, mentoring them to evaluate and share their experiences• Helped plan, prepared and evaluated an annual schedule of events including study groups, seminars, residential weekends and an international conference, and prepared and hosted a weekly meal and study group for 20-30 students, and an annual Christmas meal for 70+ students• Achieved personal fundraising and finance reporting objectives through meeting with personal and finance mentors, developed student, intern and graduate leaders through a personal mentoring training programme, and fundraising, planning, orientating students, co-leading and debriefing a 2-week cross-cultural trip to Ethiopia• Developed partnership skills through helping to plan and lead regular study and social groups and events with a dedicated international student hospitality charity

I raised finance for this self-funding role, meeting with mentors, mentoring students, completing a course of skills training, organising and hosting weekly social and study meetings, a weekend away, one-off events, and participated in a 3-week cross-cultural trip to Tanzania, working in schools and an orphanage and with local partners.

I carried out basic chemical tests on pharmaceutical raw materials, following processes detailed in the British Pharmacopoeia, using analytical equipment and software, and helped to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
