A qualified insurance risk management and compliance professional with almost 20 years’ experience in the national and international regulation of large, SME, personal lines and marine insurance and reinsurance risks, and a proven track record in building effective and comprehensive risk management and compliance advisory and monitoring teams from the ground up.He has acted as a senior compliance officer with ACE European Group (now Chubb), where he was responsible for the regulatory compliance of ACE’s Property & Casualty Business in Europe with a GWP value of £1BN per annum and subsequently was Group Head of Compliance at Groupama, leading the regulatory compliance charge for all Groupama business units, including the main UK insurance business and six sizeable brokerage organisations, supported by a team of 3 people and with a further 4 indirect reports. From 2009 to 2011 he was also Company Secretary at Groupama, sitting with directors at fortnightly Executive Committee meetings, quarterly boards and on the company’s investment committee. During this time he was responsible for development of key aspects of the Solvency II programme, including the redevelopment of Groupama’s corporate governance structure and oversight of key compliance risks. David is Steamship's global CRO and is also responsible for managing compliance in the United Kingdom, Bermuda, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. Since joining Steamship in November 2013 David has participated in directors’ meetings every Monday, handles the content of Compliance; and Risk Management Committee packs, chairs the Compliance Committee and attends at the Audit & Risk Committee of the main Board.
