I currently have twenty six years experience in conventional photography, graphic design, pen and ink, scratch board, and water color techniques. I was knocked out of the art world for several years due to failing eyesight. With the aid of a corneal transplant, I got my stereo vision back. This was a turning point for me. At that time I began tenaciously and seriously pursuing a hobby in the important, demanding, and sometimes frustrating medium of 19th Century photography called "wet plate".I produce two types of images. Ambrotypes ( photo's made on glass) and Ferrotypes (made on metal) Ferrotypes are commonly known as "tintypes". This process is difficult to do after sunset, as the film is only sensitive to the ‘blue’ UV rays of the sun. I currently photograph and sell tintypes, ambrotypes and glass negatives of participants in historical reenactments, and the like. I also enjoy public speaking / demonstrations of the origins of photography. I also do fine art photography, and my work hangs in many private collections.A few examples of my work can be found on a MySpace website, under the name: www.myspace.com/shadow_catcher.Specialties: I am one of a handful of contemporary artists who have revived the 19th century "wet plate" photographic method, hand-mixing all of the necessary chemicals for each and every exposure.

  I travel with a 'portable darkroom' outfit around the U.S., and frequent Civil War reenactments and Western / American Indian Gatherings for authentically portrayed subjects. I also do photographic portraits from my home studio. I also present and lead informative discussions to school classes or other groups on the history and procedure of the wetplate photographic process.
