  • Gkn Aerospace
    Stress Analysis Engineering Intern
    Gkn Aerospace Jan 2015 - Aug 2015
    Santa Ana, California
As a Stress Analyst Intern in an expanding company I was expected to integrate myself into the project process quickly and efficiently. In my time as an intern at the company I was held responsible for several projects that needed to be fabricated and then tested in order to determine new strengths of panels and components that were to be used in new designs for upcoming components. While managing these projects I was also tasked with running stress analysis on parts that returned with non-conformances in order to determine whether the particular non-conformance for the part would lead to a structural or fatigue failure. During my time at the company I published technical notes on the analyzed non-conformances that are in the company database and used for future reference by the engineers should a similar non-conformance arise. Several different software was used in the analysis of the varied projects, Patran was the main software that used to analyze the stresses in the components while I used Mentat for the radiation analysis of components that needed to be heat treated to determine the proper time that they should be held in the furnaces under transient conditions.
