To address a critical need for educational resources, I founded DigitalPlantain, a nonprofit organization that creates and distributes free interactive educational computer resources in Kreyòl for students in Haiti. The project’s educational software has reached over 1000 Haitian students, of whom over 650 had never before touched a computer. In leading this international collaboration, my responsibilities have included designing and programming educational modules, coordinating volunteers and consultants, writing grant proposals, making financial decisions for the organization, acquiring and refurbishing donated computers, and teaching programming workshops in the United States and in Haiti. In summer 2018, I taught a computer programming workshop in French to ten young adults in Port-au-Prince, Haiti; some of them had originally learned to use a computer with the DigitalPlantain software. As a result of the workshop, participants have been able to program their own educational software modules.

Worked for Professor Saumitra Jha on natural language processing and optical character recognition for historical documents.

Worked on the team for Professor John B. Taylor’s introductory economics class at Stanford. Led two weekly discussion sections of approximately 15 students, met regularly with students, held weekly office hours, and graded exams and assignments.

Assist the chair of the Economics Department and his team of graduate students on several projects, with a particular focus on quantitative analysis and experimental design for behavioral economics research. Contributions have included drafting a study design for a 3-part experiment about how people analyze trustworthiness, programming a mathematical simulation in Python to support a research paper on the behavioral effects of different 401(k) default options, and re-tooling Qualtrics surveys for an online experiment that explores the relative efficacy of different types of financial literacy education. Currently continuing part-time as Prof. Bernheim’s research assistant during the school year for academic credit.

Analyzed micro- and macro-economic trends using quantitative and qualitative tools. Evaluated the quality of potential investment managers, and assisted the team in making informed decisions. Designed training materials that were used for new hires to the organization.

Developed and proposed revisions to local ordinances, fielded planning-related inquiries from the public in person and by phone, researched and presented approaches to farmland preservation, evaluated environmental impacts of different development projects, drafted administrative documents (including California Environmental Quality Act reports), researched modifications to the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Plan to protect endangered species, drafted committee by-laws, and designed surveys to evaluate the supply and demand for farmworker housing in the county.

Analyzed, geo-referenced, and integrated information from multiple historical maps using several GIS platforms, including ArcGIS, for the "Imagined San Francisco" project, which aimed to make visible changes over time in San Francisco’s planned infrastructure.

Maintained and updated Macintosh computer infrastructure for 1:1 laptop program, repaired a variety of Apple computers, worked with Casper imaging software, and worked under a certified Apple Technician. Summer 2011. 35 hours/week, paid.
