Contract with Bosch Automotive, Owatonna, to help migrate a product from an old chip to a new one, also migrating to embedded linux in the process. Primary focus on how to perform system and application updates in a way that mimics the functionality of the old system.Helped understand and design an update process, similar to their existing system, that could use SWUpdate as a means to update the embedded OS and proprietary application. Wrote, with assistance from established employees, basic C/C++ code to perform the update on the new system, without breaking the legacy system. The project involved many new subjects and required a steep learning curve in, among other things, embedded yocto linux and building, a mixed C and C++ environment beyond prior experience, and in-house build system and legacy code base.

Contract with Xcel Energy to help them replace their aging IVR system into a modern environment, through multiple director-level scope and design changes. Initially hired on as software architect for IVR and moved into a role of architect for hardware and software for a geo-redundant, cloud based enterprise solution.Additionally, filled the role or technical project manager to coordinate the work between teams at three primary companies plus a few niche subcontractors and their different internal processes.

* Primary architect of flexible and extensible framework used by company to support its 80+ Voice IVR client applications. * Used knowledge of system and experience to simultaneously support client needs, caller experience, system up-time, and developer ease.* Involved in architectural change plans, as well as day to day debugging and maintenance. Used these experiences to help refine, enhance, and guide the architecture, and vice versa. * Trained new engineers on working with the existing framework; also trained non-engineers on what to expect from the framework.

* Continued enhancement and development of initial framework for IVR agents carried over from Adaptive AI, with a focus towards commercialization and flexibility. * Took over design and development of a prototype upgrade of said IVR agents, and was primarily responsible for bringing it to production. * Responsible for managing engineering team working on this architecture, when the company situation required it.

* Part of team doing AI research for a small start-up in Los Angeles, California. * Collaborated on early prototypes of the initial IVR agents used by both Adaptive AI and – eventually – Smart Action Company.
