The Venetia Underground Project is scheduled to develop and implement a 6 million ton per annum Autonomous Underground Mine at De Beers Consolidated Mines, Venetia Diamond Mine, below the existing operating opencast mines. Responsibilities included:Project Area Manager looking after the underground project’s housing and surface infrastructure requirements Value of R250 million Labour force in excess of 250 people employed by the building and civil contractors. An implementation schedule of 3 Years Complex brownfields environment for the contractors to operate in  Commissioning Management Surface Infrastructure Responsible for the full implementation of the civil project All surface requirements for the project implementation phase including; Earthworks and Civil Construction for the VUP terrace with all associated civil structure required by a new underground diamond mine, including foundations for the headgears, winders, underground ducts and fan bases and supporting works. Building Works Construction HT, MV and LT Electrical Construction Control and Instrumentation installation The extension of the fines residue disposal facility for the life of mine to 2043 The construction of housing accommodation units for the appointed contractors Setting up the tenders and implementation of the feeding and accommodation requirements for the project work force Mining Development Construction of the Decline portal, inclusive of all of the Engineering requirements

Paradigm Project Management is a Project Management Company operating mainly in the African Mining sector, focusing on designing and building mines and mining solutions for clientsResponsibilities included:• Develop and implement a Project Management structure on De Beers Voorspoed Mine for the implementation of upgrades to the efficiency of both infrastructure and process operations. • Implement Portfolio and Project Management systems for mining companies• Manage all Concept, Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies for clients• Manage and Implement EPC, EPCM, Turnkey and Owners Team solutions for clients in the mining industry• Manage Client representation for projects in the mining industry• Review of reporting of Operational Readiness for 5 projects on Kumba Mine.• Director PPM Lesotho tasked with creating entrepreneurial opportunities as well as pursuing the current company interests in mining in Lesotho. Specific focus areas are Diamond Mine initiatives, Steel Framed building construction, and hydroelectric power and water and sewage infrastructure in villages or estates.• Manager responsible for PPM’s mentoring programme including consulting to 6 emerging black contractors and consultants including the terrace earthworks contractor for Kusile Power Station. Guide, train and mentor a local empowerment team on De Beers sites to undertake small civil projects.• Visited DRC at the invitation of the Minister of Portfolio to review a hotel development on the coast which was subject to severe coastal erosion. We advised on rejection of a heavy concrete sea wall solution proposed by French Consultants in favour of a simplified solution using natural looking groynes and preservation of dune vegetation, which we were able to demonstrate.
