As a hands-on General Manager, Capacity Building at Cootharinga North Queensland, David took charge of three departments that were failing and losing money. Through working with key staff, and focusing on quality and supportive systems, he was able to lead his departments through significant growth (tripled turnover) to be profitable (40% GP for Allied Health) and ahead of target, with continuous improvement between 2018 and 2021. Lead teams through two audits successfully, with excellent feedback, especially on the quality of skill development programs.

- Business Development- Client engagement and consultation- Consultation with RTOs to develop their business- HR including recruitment & supervision of staffThis was a business development and consulting role, where I worked directly with Registered Training Organisations to develop new training programs from the ground up. Outcome Results was a very new company at the time, so the role was very hands on, and involved in forming the direction of the company. My role was multi-faceted. I recruited and managed training and administrative staff, including compliance staff; developed training programs with reference to national training packages; consulted with RTOs to facilitate them becoming Pre-qualified Suppliers of Queensland Government funded vocational training, and developed business systems and tools, to track training outcomes, and link these to financial outcomes. My focus was always on quality, and good outcomes for our clients.

Blue Care is the largest provider of residential aged care, retirement living, allied health, personal care, domestic assistance, respite, social support, and volunteer services across Queensland and Northern New South Wales. It provides care to more than 1 in 30 Queenslanders with over 10,000 staff and volunteers across 260 services. Blue Care is one of Queensland's largest employers and was recognised as a Q150 Icon.Key accomplishments: Rolled out, and managed, an externally sourced Learning Management System to Community Services. Developed a tool to assist nurses to plan and document their Continuing Professional Development activities, which was adopted by the whole organisation. Maintained high levels of training compliance across all services. Supported achievements 100+ staff to achieve vocational qualifications or access vocational and/or professional level scholarships.Activities of role: Management of vocational education programs. Delivery of organisational training. Establish, build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients and suppliers. Analyse and report on organisational and service needs and source products and programs to meet identified needs. Monitor organisational training compliance, and plan and implement strategies to improve and maintain high standards.

In the last two years at the school, I took over and managed an existing IT vocational education program. I was able to strengthen the course, correctly align the teaching materials and assessment with the competencies, and improve student completion rates. I also created a seamless reporting system to map completion of assessment through to statements of attainment.
