This position ended due to redundancy.Responsible for both the development of new cell based assays and performing weekly SAR assays in both native and recombinant cells, requiring regular use of sterile cell culture techniques and native tissue dissection and cell preparation, including primary cortical and hippocampal neuron preparation.Development and management of SAR assays for 2 allosteric modulator projects targeting Alzheimer’s disease within lead optimisation stage.Transfer of in-house assays to HTS group (Japan) and external CRO (UK), development of working relationship and site visits to transfer assay techniques/protocol and ensure quality of data.Familiarity with and optimisation of a number of assay readouts and formats (Ca2+ mobilisation, ELISA, HTRF, Protein quantification assay).Frequent use of automated equipment including, FLIPR Tetra, Pherastar, Hamilton STAR, Cybiwell, Multidrop.Familiarity with data analysis using GraphPad Prism and XLFit curve fitting packages.Responsible for data quality, data integrity and data posting into corporate databases and communication with project teams through weekly assay reports and presentation in project/group meetings.Supervision of Industrial Placement students in laboratory.Completed home office license course (modules 1-4) and currently hold a home office personal licence.Experience in animal models of Neurodegenerative disease, Inflammation and Seizure, including rat and mouse Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis, mouse MPTP, rat LPS inflammatory and PTZ seizure models.Routine compound formulation and dosing, scoring of disease severity, tissue dissection and plasma sample collection.Study analysis involving sectioning of specific brain/spinal cord regions and histology/ immunohistochemistry for relevant disease markers.Quantitation of disease severity/compound efficacy through microscopy/image analysis or inflammatory markers/cytokines using biochemical assays.
