David was educated at New Lambton Public School, Knox Grammar School and subsequently attended Sydney University gaining batchelors degrees in economics and law. He joined Norton Smith + Co, then Australia's oldest law firm, in 1980 and very soon began acting for the firm's largest client, one of the major trading bank's, on recoveries, troubled loans and insolvency scenarios. David has specialised in that area since then and continues to act as a partner in HWL Ebsworth's Sydney office for banks and financial institutions both domestic and international as well as for a range of insolvency practitioners.To add to his skill set David has undertaken training as a mediator with Australian Dispute Centre and is now an accredited mediator .David is on the editorial board of the Banking and Finance Law Bulletin a Bulletin and regularly writes articles for that publication.David can be contacted on ph (02) 9334 8930, mobile 0405 427 781 or at drichardson@hwle.com.au.
