Throughout my 15 year long career in the Royal Navy as an Aircraft Engineer I have carried out a variety of roles in different environments. This has allowed me to continuously develop many skills overtime and challenge myself with the diversity of roles I have carried out. Below are listed some skills and achievements from my career. As the Module Responsible Instructor my biggest achievement was assisting in the successful implementation of the new final assessments for LAETQC career course final exams. This required a lot of testing and adjusting to ensure that the exams and marking criteria were fit for purpose and covered the required training specification. This allowed us to identify any students weaknesses if they failed and utilise effective coaching and mentoring to bring them up to the required standard. The end result allowed us to deliver leading hands to squadrons to a higher standard and with better supervisory skills. As an instructor this role also allowed me to continuously develop my coaching and teaching abilities as we delivered training courses and challenged me in tailoring the content to meet any learning difficulties students may have.As the Avionics Workshop Manager I was able develop and refine my management and administration abilities as required by my role. I regularly reviewed all SSOW and risk assessments for the workshop ensuring they were fit for purpose. I acted as the Quality Champion for the workshops and attended regular QA meetings ensuring workshops quality was to the highest standard. I finally ensured my team were authorised, all training was complete and remained in date to ensure any modifications were built to the drawing specifications and to the highest standard. This refined my skills in running an effective team and allowed me ensure subordinate development was a continuous evolution. As an Aircraft Supervisor I was able to build my team leadership and and management skills whilst acting as a supervisor on the squadron watch. I was able to carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on aircraft with a variety of teams. This allowed me to show my effectiveness with different sized groups and achieve any required task to a high standard and meet squadron requirements. As an Aircraft Engineering Technician I volunteered to go on operations to Afghanistan in the role of Detainee Handler. This was to take me out of my comfort zone and carry out a new role in a hostile environment. This allowed me to show adaptability and carry out my new role in a high stress environment successfully.
