Ensured that Human Factors Engineering, Anthropometric and Man Machine Interface (MMI) guidelines were effectively integrated into the design and construction of the USMC Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV).•Developed, conducted, and documented usability studies, Human Factors Engineering tests and task analyses for EFV evacuation, workstation design, interior and exterior physical layout of the EFV, seats, lighting, keyboards, and Graphical User Interfaces. •Conducted usability studies with users in classroom settings, in vehicle mock-ups, and in moving military vehicles. •Collaborated extensively with the USMC in order to ensure that their operational environment, missions, organizational structure and equipment were integrated into the Human Factors Engineering design of the EFV. •Collaborated with structural engineers on layout of vehicle interior to maximize safety, accessibility of components, maneuverability within vehicle, (including emergency evacuation), and communication between personnel. •Reviewed specifications, requirements and engineering drawings and participated in design reviews and integrated product team (IPT) meetings to ensure that Human Factors Engineering guidelines were followed.•Designed seats, controls, displays, desks, keyboards and lighting of workstations. •Designed, documented, and tested all Graphical User Interfaces and screen design used within the vehicle, including information layout on computer screens, associated menu structures, physical and functional layout of the associated bezel panels and other non-computer related control panels. •Facilitated multidisciplinary team meetings with software designers, structural engineers, vendors, users (USMC) and customers (government) in order to carry out all of the above.•Designed all instructional and safety related placards and decals for the vehicle.
