About David Ridd
David Ridd is a Head of Communications, Brand and Corporate Affairs at Valneva. He possess expertise in media relations, social media, internal communications, marketing communications, public relations and 26 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "David worked for me while I was the Director of Edinburgh BioQuarter 2015 and 2106. He and the team helped me a lot when I joined the BioQuarter back in 2015. His role was, and still is, Communications, Marketing and Business Development manager. He is a very engaging, energetic and always sets up ambitious goals for himself. His skillset is obviously focused around communications and marketing, but he is also very knowledgeable in the Health and Life Science sector especially in Edinburgh and Scotland. I can give David my very best recommendations. My only advise to any of his existing or future managers is to make him to stand up while he presents or speaks. That is somewhat an internal joke between him and me (he has a great sense of humour), but there is also a bit of truth in it. And most importantly - if you are a winger in your football team switch to the other side far away from David if you want to avoid a reality check of the Healthcare system in Scotland!" and "When I joined NHS Lothian in December 2012 I reported to David, who had just been appointed as External Communications Manager. My move to the NHS was my first role out-with the private sector- it was a big leap where I had much to learn. Despite starting his new role around the same time, David took managing me in his stride and was an exceptionally understanding, kind and motivating mentor. He not only helped me learn what I needed to know about NHS Lothian in a short space of time, but went out of his way to ensure I felt supported and was always on hand to help with my (numerous) questions about the Health Board. I will freely admit that in the first few months in the role there were days when I felt very out of my depth, as at takes a fair amount of time to become familiar with the workings of the NHS. Despite this I always knew I could talk to David about this, and his reassurance and sense of humour helped me realise that it would get easier with time! We worked on a number of projects together and even as we both progressed to different roles in the Communications team I could still rely on him as a colleague for advice and guidance when I needed it. He was/is an absolute pleasure to work with, very down-to-earth and a great asset to any team."
