My areas of practice include local government law, land use law, environmental law, construction law, contract law, and real estate litigation. I put my experience as a former real estate agent, building inspector, and municipal planner to work for my clients.

Prior to my employment the Town contracted with Carteret County for inspection services. I started the Town's building inspection program and served as the Town Planner. Because Cape Carteret is a coastal community, I also served as the local permit officer for CAMA. I obtained Standard Level 2 certifications in all five building trades: building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire, and also obtained certification as a Stormwater BMP inspector. I helped develop a Low Impact Development Manual, the Carteret County Comprehensive Transportation Plan, and the Carteret County Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. I successfully obtained a grant for sidewalks to White Oak Elementary School through the State and Federal Safe Routes to School program.

Drafted the City's first Neuse River Stormwater Report. Worked with City's Finance Dept to improve reporting and fee collections. Worked with the City's Public Services Dept to identify areas where stormwater improvements were necessary to improve capacity on City's sewer system and avoid regulatory penalties.
