Whilst working on board a BP crude oil tanker my activities were to:• Perform effectively and safely as a team member• Act as a assistant watch keeper• Operate pumping systems and complete necessary records• Transfer fuel• Demonstrate an ability to anticipate and recognise dangerous trends and the knowledge of the appropriate initial action to take in emergency scenarios• Prepare and start the main engine• Shut down and secure the main engine• Assist in manoeuvring the main engine from the engine room control position• Assist in routine testing of main engine safety trips and alarms• Assist in carrying out test on auxiliary boiler• Carry out test on cooling water• Prepare and start steering gear and conduct pre-sailing checks and test• Warm through steam system and bring into operation • Prepare and operate centrifugal separators • Prepare and operate the refrigerator and air conditioning plant• Prepare and operate air compressors• Prepare and run generators, parallel with running plant, transfer load and shut down machinery• To ensure and maintain the safety of self and others • Plan, organise and monitor work activities• Act as team leader for work activities
